In the film "Kramer vs. Kramer",
the protagonist, played by Dustin Hoffman,
becomes absorbed in his work and neglects his family,
and in the end,
his wife leaves home,
leaving their child behind.
The film won five Academy Awards in 1979.
By the way, do you know what the protagonist’s job was?
He was an art director at an advertising agency.
Perhaps, then as now,
being an art director has been a symbol of a hectic life.
I am an art director with 25 years in the industry.
After leaving an agency to go independent,
I’ve continued to work mainly in advertising—logo design,
package design, and more.
In my twenties and thirties,
I too was frighteningly consumed by work.
Wanting to work more efficiently,
I started creating scripts for Illustrator
after I turned 45.
I first started using Adobe Illustrator
when I was an art student.
The version at the time was 5.5J.
The current version is 25.4.1 (as of 2021).
Over the years, many features have been added,
and it seems to have become more convenient,
but to be honest, the number of features I rarely use has also increased.
In fact, I think some of those features
have made Illustrator less responsive.
And, strangely enough,
there were parts that never evolved.
So there I was:
often thinking,
"If only this worked a little better…"
"Why can’t it do this…?"
I learned that I could add functions with scripts,
and I’ve been steadily writing and stockpiling code.
I decided to bundle useful, easy-to-use functions,
pack in thoughtful UI and versatility,
and create scripts anyone can use.
That’s why I built this website.
It’s designed so that many designers
can use it as simply as possible
and design intuitively.
"Night views are made of overtime."
That’s one of my favorite taglines.
But we’re not in that era anymore.
I want every creator
to go home early
and be able to value their own time.
